Let there be no compulsion in religion ... 2/256

And fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors. 2/190

Surely those who believe and those who are Jews and the Sabians and the Christians whoever believes in Allah and the last day and does good-- they shall have no fear nor shall they grieve. 005/69

The Quran is one of the most widely read books in the world . It has been translated in almost all the major languages of mankind. In the background of history, the message of the Quran shines as a dazzling focus of a vigorous  monotheistic faith.

Selections from the Quran," the present work, attempts to give in English selections from the Quran for the benefit of those who do not have the time or facility to read its full text. The selections are based on translation of the Holy Quran by Marmaduke Pickthall . While compiling it, I was fully aware that a translation, however well done, cannot convey the beauty and force of the original. I was also aware of my own limitations, being neither a scholar nor a "alim". My humble work is made with love and reverence which  I hope will draw the reader to the complete text, every word of which, being a revelation and outpouring of divine inspiration, constitutes the Quran.

I do hope that my work would mitigate the unwarranted prejudice and bias that is widespread, and, above all, prove that the fundamentals of Islam as expounded in the Quran are not exactly as the so-called bigoted 'fundamentalists', both from among the 'believers' and the  'non-believers', would have us believe.
